Over the past few months, the one player from Barcelona to have been linked with Liverpool has been their starlet Gavi.
However, if Catalunya Ràdio are to be believed, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, a new player has caught their attention, and that is Ronald Araújo.
Whether Liverpool do need a new centre-back remains to be seen, since they already have the best in the world at the positon in Virgil Van Dijk, with Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konaté and Joe Gomez to go alongside him if needs be.
That hasn’t stopped the Reds from making a move, though, if the Catalan outlet are to be believed, as they point out the player, who is one of the worst paid at Barcelona these days, has received ‘outstanding offers’ from the Premier League.
The first named are Manchester United, who have been heavily linked with the centre-back, but then we have both Liverpool and Chelsea, with the latter currently unable to move on the transfer market due to the sanctions placed on Roman Abramovich.
Barcelona are doing their best to renew him, and would be ready to triple his wages, but their offer remains ‘far from’ what he has on the table from the Premier League, which would include Liverpool.
Araújo would prefer to stay put, but if it does all come down to money, then perhaps a move to Anfield, where he could play alongside the best, probably wouldn’t be too bad of a compromise either.
