Sportime.Gr report Greek club PAOK are close to signing Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic.

The Serbian winger is expected to leave the Premier League club before Friday’s deadline and there are reports in Greece he could be heading to PAOK.

Recently knocked out by Benfica in the Champions League qualifiers, the Greek club will compete in the Europa League this season.

Sportime.Gr claim talks between Liverpool and PAOK are ongoing and the player is very close to joining the Greek side.

We covered earlier claims from Greece that Markovic is an option for Olympiacos but, in a surprise twist, it seems PAOK now have a better chance to get the former Benfica player.

Recent reports from English press suggested that the player could join Standard Liege or Anderlecht, but the Greek press believes Markovic could be a PAOK player before Friday.

The Liverpool outcast spent a loan period with Anderlecht last season, and after a difficult start things didn’t go too badly at all.
