Juventus’ chase for Emre Can has been a frequent subject in Italy since the summer, as the Old Lady seem pretty convinced they can get the Liverpool midfielder soon.

Can’s contract with the Reds expires at the end of the season, and since the negotiations for a new deal don’t seem to advance, there’s a big expectation that the Italian side would try to get him on a free transfer next summer.

But as reported by newspaper Tuttosport today, there’s a chance that Juve could make an early attempt to sign the player in the January window.

It’s claimed that Liverpool turned down a €35m offer in the summer market because Can was too important for the squad. But in case the club fail to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage, then they could sell him.

That would be a way of getting some money instead of waiting for the end of the season and see him walking for free. Tuttosport even highlights the club’s bad results in the first two CL fixtures to show that the possibility is pretty real.

That’s why Juventus’ directors are expected to make a new approach in the summer, and depending on the answer, then they will decide if they make another bid or start lining up a contract for the player to sign as a free-agent.
