Over the past week, the Spanish media have been building up a possible battle between Real Madrid and Arsenal for Alexander Isak.
The 21-year-old has impressed for Sweden at Euro 2020, and with that coming on the back of a good season with Real Sociedad, it’s inevitably brought transfer interest.
Friday’s edition of AS states Liverpool are the latest English club to move themselves into the signing picture. The Spanish newspaper says the ‘Premier League goes crazy’ for Isak, with Arsenal interest mentioned again, and also that of Chelsea.
There’s no indication of Liverpool opening talks over a signing, and it seems likely Real Sociedad would be looking for Isak’s full release clause to sanction a sale.
La Real have the youngster on a contract lasting until June 2024, so are under no pressure to sell in the coming windows. Their finances also aren’t in the same terrible state as some others around Europe.
Isak’s clause currently stands at €70m, so that’s likely what Liverpool would need to pay for a deal. In the current market, it doesn’t sound too unreasonable.
