Liverpool are ‘monitoring’ Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez ahead of a possible move in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to RAI journalist Marco Conterio, who says the Reds are keeping a close eye on the Argentine striker’s performances in Serie A.
Martinez has been in decent form again for Inter Milan this season, with 12 goals and two assists in 34 games in all competitions so far.
That means he is only seven goals away from the 19 he managed in all competitions last season, although his number of assists has dropped after losing partner Romelu Lukaku when he moved to Chelsea.
Either way, the Argentine has remained a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s side, and it seems the big clubs are keeping an eye on him, including Liverpool.
Martinez has regularly been linked with the elite clubs in Europe over the years thanks to his performances at Inter, for whom he’s scored 61 goals and registered 22 assists in 166 games.
Jürgen Klopp and co have been named as admirers on more than one occasion, and it seems they are keeping a close eye on him ahead of this summer in particular.
“Inter are moving and watching many players, but they are also watching many clubs be interested in their players,” Inter-News report Conterio saying.
“One above all is Lautaro Martinez, who is very popular in England. Liverpool are monitoring him very carefully.
“Scamacca is still the name in pole; he would be the perfect profile for the Nerazzurri as a replacement for Edin Dzeko.”
