Liverpool midfielder says he’s ‘constantly talking’ with Klopp, has been told what to improve

 

Marko Grujic is currently away with Serbia’s U21 team, helping them qualify for the age related championship in Poland next year.

Speaking to Serbia’s Zurnal, Grujic explained that he doesn’t feel it’s demotion, having played for the Serbian national side, and is glad to help his teammates with their qualification aims.

Whilst Grujic’s chat was mainly about the Serbia U21 team and his talented teammates, Zurnal did get around to asking how the youngster is doing since moving to Liverpool and the Premier League.

Liverpool agreed a deal to buy Grujic from Red Star Belgrade in January, but the player remained in Serbia for the rest of the season. Since arriving at Anfield, Grujic explains that manager Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool assistant Zeljko Buvac have been helping him improve aspects of his game, so he can eventually take on a larger role at the club.

Grujic explained: “Coach Jurgen Klopp has a clear plan for me, I’m constantly talking with him and his assistant Zeljko Buvac. I am aware that I need to improve my game on the defensive side. Shortcomings in this part of my game originated from Red Star since last summer I played in the position behind the striker.”

At just 20 years of age, there’s plenty of time for Grujic to make the adjustments, especially given that Klopp and Buvac are clearly making it a priority.
