Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Nicolò Barella following his impressive start to the season with Inter Milan.
The 23-year-old initially joined the Nerazzurri on loan from Cagliari before the start of last season and his stay was made permanent in 2020.
According to FcInterNews, the midfielder’s performances for Antonio Conte’s side are not going unnoticed and ‘admirers are increasing week after week’.
The Reds, United and the Gunners get a mention when talking about ‘big English’ admirers. The north London club ‘aimed’ at the Italy international in the past. Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are also included in the list of clubs looking at the player.
Barella’s current deal lasts until 2024 and as the ‘admirers increase’, Inter ‘want to lock him up’ by offering him a new contract.
It’s claimed the Italian club are ‘already working’ to secure his long-term future by offering him an extension until 2025.
He earns €2.5m per season plus bonuses, and signing the new deal would see the player’s wage rise to €4m.
FcInterNews only state the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are ‘admirers’ from the Premier League, and the trio haven’t taken any further steps for Barella.
Even if they do, they may face difficulties because the Italian, who picked Conte’s side over other Serie A clubs, dreams of ‘winning with Inter’, which is why the renewal talks are ‘continuing with confidence’.
Barella made his 50th appearance in his side’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday. He has scored four goals and registered 12 assists for Inter.
