Sepp van den Berg has reportedly asked Liverpool to lower their demands for him so he can secure a move away this summer.
That’s according to Voetbal International, relayed by PSV Inside, who report that the defender is asking Liverpool to play ball so he can get the move he wants.
The website reports that Van den Berg is considered the ‘major reinforcement’ for PSV this summer, although a move is not expected to be done any time soon.
They’ve liked him for the last three years, but this is the summer in which they will push properly to get him, boosted by the fact that Van den Berg is reportedly keen on the switch too.
His head has been turned by PSV’s interest and Voetbal International report that the footballer and his management have indicated to Liverpool that they want to leave too.
They also think that the Reds initial asking price of €20m is ‘disproportionately high’ and he is hoping to convince them to bring that down. PSV also think it is high and certainly won’t be paying such a fee, in fact they would want it to be ‘significantly reduced’.
One potential competition is that new Liverpool manager Arne Slot may be trying to persuade Van den Berg to stay and push for a place under him.
That is why PSV see the potential transfer as a long-term one, something to be worked on over the summer in the hope that Liverpool can be brought down, and a deal eventually done.
