Liverpool have joined the race for Celta Vigo star Gabri Veiga.
That’s according to Cadena Ser, who state the Reds are one of the clubs who ‘want’ to sign the 20-year-old in the summer.
Real Madrid are also showing interest in the midfielder, but his entourage recommends he go to the Premier League, where Liverpool are in the mix.
The Spain U21 international has a deal lasting until 2024, which includes a €40m release clause. The La Liga side want to tie him down to a new deal and raise his clause so that they can earn more money when they sell him.
Sources have informed Cadena Ser that Veiga will ‘end up leaving’ Celta Vigo after this season for a fee lower than his buyout clause. However, those sources are attached to interested clubs, so it may well be wishful thinking.
Meanwhile, the player’s contract with his current representatives expires on March 31st and he’s currently looking for a new agent to negotiate the ‘big contract of his life’.
Spanish journalist Antón Meana covered this report and he told Cadena Ser’s program, El Larguero that ‘Liverpool love him’. That’s all he has to say about Jürgen Klopp’s side.

He adds Veiga’s environment favours a move to the Premier League because they believe he could enjoy more game time there.
Veiga has managed nine goals and three assists from 29 matches in all competitions this season.
