During the last summer transfer window, Andre Gomes was hyped beyond all reason. The midfielder was a reasonable performer for Valencia and Portugal, but had done little to justify the transfer battle which went on.
Represented by Jorge Mendes, Andre Gomes was supposed to be on his way to Real Madrid, before Barcelona swooped in at the last minute and got a deal done.
It was presented as a victory but there were immediate doubts from Barcelona fans who had watched the player at Valencia, what would Andre Gomes do?
The midfielder’s first season at Barcelona has been average, and that’s putting it kindly. If Barcelona got a good offer this summer they’d likely snatch it, so it’s no surprise to see him linked with Liverpool.
Liverpool are ‘loco’ for Andre Gomes, report Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, and Jurgen Klopp thinks well of the idea. Of course, Coutinho is dragged into the situation, and sending Andre Gomes to Anfield could help the Brazilian move to Barcelona.
Rafinha is mentioned as another potential makeweight, and sending the pair to Liverpool to slash the Coutinho fee would be a fanatsic scenario for Barcelona.
For Liverpool, it may not quite be so wonderful.
In fact, Klopp would be seriously ‘loco’, but in a different respect, if he was happy to sign Andre Gomes, and thereby slash the Coutinho fee hugely.
