Despite surprising many, including Hein Vanhaezebrouck, by actually getting game time at Anderlecht on loan, Lazar Markovic will be returning to Liverpool when his deal with the Belgian side comes to an end.

According to Anderlecht Online, the Serbian winger has been deemed ‘too fragile’ by the Jupiler Pro League club’s board, mostly due to the fact he still cannot complete a full 90 minutes.

When the Liverpool winger first arrived, there were big concerns about his match fitness, with his manager and the club’s medical staff setting him on a special program to get him up to speed.

While he has had some impact, it seems Anderlecht deem making the loan deal permanent too much of a risk, which is understandable.

How much that would cost has yet to be made public, but it certainly would represent a large investment for Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s side, one they are likely to want to make elsewhere.

As for Markovic, his time at Anfield will most likely come to an end in the summer seeing as he hasn’t gained Jürgen Klopp’s trust, and it’ll be up to the Reds and his agent to find him a new club.
