Looking to spruce up Liverpool’s attack for next season, Jürgen Klopp appears to be targeting more Brazilian flair to compliment the likes of Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.
The alleged big target recently has been Grêmio’s Luan, but as a source inside the Brazilian club told Sport Witness this week, that interest is “just smoke, nothing concrete” at this stage.
The forward is is capable of playing in most positions up front, just like a certain Sadio Mané, and it appears Liverpool are targeting a bunch of similar players to avoid the problems they are currently facing without their Senegalese star.
According to WebGirondins, the Reds sent a scout to watch Bordeaux-Marseille on Sunday, and logic would point to them keeping an eye on Malcom.
The right winger has been linked with Liverpool in the past, and his ability to ghost into the box shows why the 20-year-old has managed to score nine goals and provide six assists this season.
While the numbers aren’t as impressive as Mané’s, it’s also worth pointing out the quality around him certainly isn’t of the same level as he would get at Liverpool.
At such a young age, Malcom fits the profile of a Jürgen Klopp signing, and with three years left on his deal as well as a key role in Jocelyn Gourvennec’s squad, it wouldn’t be surprising if Bordeaux were to ask around €20m for his services, which is cheaper than the reported £26m ‘bid’ Liverpool reportedly made for Luan.
On top of Malcom, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Liverpool representative was also keeping an eye out for Adam Ounas, who could be an ideal backup for Philippe Coutinho down the line.
