Former Liverpool player Jan Molby has a weekly column for Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, and this week he’s taken aim at Chelsea.
With the article titled ‘Chelsea’s attacking hunt looks like a joke’, the Liverpool legend explains the search for a striker has been a bit of mess.
With Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch and Ashley Barnes all linked, Molby asks ‘I’m wondering why they’re so keen to pick up a big British attacker’.
Believing all those players are inferior to Chelsea’s Michy Bathsuayi, Molby instead thinks Chelsea should be going for a player to replace Alvaro Morata, who he’s already decided doesn’t have what it takes for the Premier League.
To be fair to Chelsea, Molby seems to have missed much of the past week and the London club’s attempts to sign Edin Dzeko from AS Roma. The Bosnian doesn’t get a single mention, perhaps Molby wanted to infer Chelsea are going for a Brexit Means Brexit transfer approach.
The signing of Ross Barkley wasn’t anything to do with Antonio Conte, explains the Dane, and all of this leaves him to be ‘convinced’ Antonio Conte is on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the not too distant future.
Jan Molby played as both a central defender and midfielder and is most known for his time at Liverpool, a period in which he won two league titles and two FA Cups.
