Many believe Liverpool did a great piece of business during the summer when they snatched away Joel Matip on a free transfer from Bundesliga side Schalke.

The Cameroon international has quickly settled in at Merseyside, and has made an instant impact at the club.

According to latest claims in Germany, Liverpool could try to sign another Bundesliga defender on a free transfer next summer.

Bild report Liverpool are ‘hot’ on Schalke’s left back Sead Kolasinac, whose contract expires next summer at the Bundesliga club.

Schalke, however, are trying to negotiate a new contract with the 23-year-old, who could extend his current deal until 2021, but that remains to be seen.

James Milner has been doing pretty well for Liverpool in his new role at left back, and it should be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp sees him as a long term option or will try to sign a new left back next summer.

Alberto Moreno has lost his place in the starting XI this season to James Milner, and despite Klopp saying the Spaniard is very much in his future plans, he could very well replace him next summer.
