With Liverpool being linked with Nabil Fékir and Ousmane Dembélé, one could easily jump to the conclusion the Reds are after another forward.

How realistic both those targets are, no one really knows yet, even if reports from a week or so ago from France suggested a deal for the Lyon star was close.

Over in Italy, Gazzetta dello Sport believe Liverpool are also after a player of Fékir’s ilk, and one the club already knows very well: Suso.

The Spaniard spent five years at Anfield between 2010-2015 before being sold to AC Milan for a mere £1.2m.

Just coming off the back of an eight goal and 14 assist season, the 24-year-old is attracting quite a lot of interest from a few clubs, helped by the fact he’s got a €38m release clause in his contract.

In the current market, this is certainly a deal worth doing, and it’s no surprise Liverpool are keeping an eye on the situation, even if it’s just as a plan B in case a deal for Fékir (or whoever else is ahead of Suso on Jürgen Klopp’s list) doesn’t go through.

It’s worth noting that previous Suso to Liverpool links have been based on very little, so if Gazzetta’s claims today are inspired by those then there’s likely not a lot in this.
