One of the major transfer rumours between now and the summer is likely to be Franck Kessie and which club he’ll sign for in the next window. Tuttosport report on Sunday that Liverpool are one of a number of clubs who remain keen on signing the player.
During the January transfer window, and in the lead up to it, Kessie was probably linked to around a third of the Premier League. All the big clubs were said to be interested in Atalanta’s midfield gem, and Liverpool were one of the most linked.
In December it was reported that Kessie’s agent was set to visit Liverpool, as part of a tour around interested clubs. In January it was stated that Jurgen Klopp was so keen on the player that he was ready to sanction a €40m transfer.
The envisaged fee for Kessie is usually a little over half of that amount, so the Liverpool claims perhaps seemed over the top. Klopp will know he needs to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season, and Kessie is certainly an interesting option.
Liverpool would have to battle against Italian interest for the player, and if Kessie continues to improve then it’s going to be an almighty battle in the summer transfer window.
