Liverpool are working ‘flat out’ to get a deal for Schalke defender Ozan Kabak over the line before tonight’s transfer deadline.

That’s what Sky Sport Germany report today, stating the Reds are working on a loan deal until the end of the season.

They report that Liverpool want to bring Kabak in at the last minute and at the minute, they are ‘intensively negotiating’ with Schalke to get the move over the line.

The nature of this bid isn’t yet known, although reports in England have stated that Liverpool are negotiating a loan with a purchase option, not an obligation, tied onto the end of it.

It remains to be seen how the deal is outlined, with both clubs almost certain to present it in whatever way looks best for themselves.

On that front, though, FUNKE’s Schalke correspondent Andreas Ernst is reporting that the offer from Liverpool is ‘immorally good’, so it seems the Reds are putting their money where their mouth is to get the centre-back they need.

The deal appears to be progressing well because of that, with Kabak at Schalke finalising things as well according to Sport Bild journalist Kilian Gaffrey.

He reports the defender spent eight minutes in a meeting with the German club and his move to Liverpool is now ‘close’ but not done yet.
