Liverpool’s reported interest in Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala has got the German club’s leadership ‘on their guard’.

That’s according to SportBILD, who say the German champions are keen to sign the youngster to a new and improved contract to ward off interest from England.

17-year-old Musiala has emerged as a hot prospect at Bayern in recent months, with a series of impressive performances under Hansi Flick.

That has ‘made people stand up and take notice’, particularly in England, where a report this week stated that Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City were keen on them.

The Reds are particularly big fans, with Jürgen Klopp described as a great admirer of the midfielder after his recent displays.

SportBILD say that isn’t a ‘cause for concern’ for Bayern, although bosses at the club are ‘on their guard’ about the situation.

They would like to negotiate an extended professional contract with Musiala for his 18th birthday, which is February 26th next year.

With that deal, Musiala would earn ‘significantly more’ than his current contract, which runs until 2022. It would also prevent lucrative offers from England and the likes of Liverpool snapping him up.

Indeed, it’s stated that there are currently ‘few signs’ that Musiala doesn’t see his future as being in Munich as he is getting chances under Flick.

Thus Klopp and co will have to continue to admire the talented youngster from afar for the time being.
