Two days ago, Gazzetta dello Sport explained Liverpool scouts have been closely following Inter Milan’s Nicolò Barella for some time.
Later that day, we covered a claim from Calciomercato that Jürgen Klopp has never hidden his love for the midfielder.
Liverpool’s interest in the 26-year-old is further backed up by Corriere dello Sport, relayed by FcInterNews.
The report details the Reds wanting the Italy international and the Serie A side’s interest in Barcelona’s Franck Kessié. The Nerazzurri must raise €60m before June 30th to balance their books.
Despite the financial needs, Inter haven’t slapped an asking price on Barella to consider his sale in the next window. Simone Inzaghi’s side have identified Denzel Dumfries as the player to be sacrificed, to help them improve their economic conditions.
That doesn’t mean Barella, who is attracting interest from Liverpool, cannot be sold after this season. It’s said Inter’s ‘plan could change’ if the Merseyside club were to make an offer in excess of €70m for the midfielder loved by Klopp.
Liverpool are told the fee they need to invest to take Barella away from the San Siro. It’s down to them whether to invest this on the Italian or look elsewhere to strengthen their midfield next season.
