There is no denying that while Liverpool have the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané in their ranks, both capable of scoring goals aplenty, the one thing the club do not have is a proper number 9.
It’s not something they’ve desperately been lacking, either, as Roberto Firmino has been instrumental in helping get the best out of the aforementioned two at Anfield, but once one or both of them leave (their contracts expire in 2023), tactics might have to change.
That’s why it isn’t surprising to see Liverpool being linked with out and out strikers, with Alexander Isak popping up here and there in column inches next to the Reds’ name.

Whether it reaches the €90m of his release clause remains to be seen, but Liverpool have the funds if needed.
