This week, reports from the Croatian press revealed a list of clubs who are interested in Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
It’s been claimed that the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all following the 27-year-old.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport reacts to this news today, saying Inter Milan might have a plan to make it more difficult for clubs to sign him.
The Nerazzurri’s biggest concern is that Brozovic’s current contract, that expires in 2022, has a release clause of €60m, which can be triggered in the first 15 days of July.
That’s why Beppe Marotta is planning to offer the player a new contract, extending the expiry date to 2023, and taking away the release clause. To convince Brozovic and his agent, they’d raise his salary from €3.5m to €4.5m per season.
If Inter Milan are so worried about that clause, that’s probably because they’re making big demands to let Brozovic go. That’s something Liverpool and others better be aware of in case they really try to sign the midfielder.
