Liverpool sent scouts to watch AS Monaco midfielder Aurelian Tchouameni in the club’s 2-1 win over Lille earlier this month.
That’s according to But! Football Club, who say Jurgen Klopp ‘holds the key’ to signing the highly-rated Frenchman.
Tchouameni has been in superb form for Monaco this season, with a series of impressive performances also establishing him in the France set up.
That’s alerted most of Europe to him, with big clubs all around the world keen to secure his signature in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool are one of those who have been linked with his signature, and But! Football Club state that they are providing ‘strong competition’ to the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain.
Indeed, they sent scouts to watch over the midfielder in the recent clash with Lille, in which they also watched teammate Amadou Onana. That proved to be a good choice as Tchouameni scored both goals in his side’s 2-1 win.
Liverpool are looking at the midfielder as a replacement for James Milner and Jordan Henderson, who are 36 and 31, respectively.
They believe the Frenchman is the ‘ideal reinforcement’ for their midfield, particularly as West Ham are demanding €100m for Declan Rice.
It’s believed Klopp ‘holds the key’ to signing the native of Rouen, but there could be late competition from Manchester City, who can focus their efforts on a deal after wrapping up Erling Haaland’s move from Borussia Dortmund.
