Michael Kayode was close to arriving in the Premier League in the summer window, as Brentford had an offer rejected for him.

A higher offer could have convinced Fiorentina into selling the defender but it does seem as if the youngster could still join a Premier League side in January.

The likes of Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur were also linked with Kayode, but never really progressed with moves.

Corriere dello Sport report today that the club which could land him in the winter transfer window is Liverpool.

The newspaper claim that Liverpool have Kayode in ‘their notebook’ for January and could make an offer for the Italy U21s defender, who hasn’t managed to play much for La Viola this season.

He’s had only 18 minutes in the Serie A so far, playing three times in the Conference League. There is concern about the lack of playing time and the feeling is that if things continue to go this way, Kayode will depart in the winter.

Realistically, he’d struggle more for playing time at Liverpool so it would an odd move unless a loan elsewhere was involved.
