Liverpool have sent written intention to Bayer Leverkusen that they will activate Jeremie Frimpong’s release clause.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who reports that Leverkusen will accept the deal and personal terms are not expected to be an issue.

The journalist reports that Liverpool are closing in on Frimpong’s signature as they seemingly move quickly to secure a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Frimpong emerged as the leading candidate to fill the vacancy created by Alexander-Arnold’s impending move to Real Madrid this summer.

Reports over the last couple of days have had Frimpong nearing the move, with it made clear that a deal was being done and he would head to Anfield in the summer.

Tavolieri backs that up, reporting that Liverpool have sent ‘written intentions’ to activate his release clause, which ill be accepted by Leverkusen. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue between Frimpong and Liverpool.

The belief is that he will become Liverpool’s first signing of the season before too long, with no apparent blockades to the deal and everything progressing at a rapid pace ahead of the summer.
