Liverpool and AC Milan are in the picture to sign Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio this summer.
The winger’s deal expires in 2023 and he’s refused to accept Los Blancos’ renewal offer as it didn’t include a pay rise.
He has a decision to make on whether to sign a new deal, leave the La Liga winners this summer or stay for one more season and move elsewhere as a free agent next year.
Calciomercato state the option to sign a new deal is increasingly remote as Florentino Pérez’s talks with the Spain international’s new agent, Jorge Mendes, haven’t been fruitful.
Real Madrid have no desire to let the player leave for nothing and therefore, the ‘road that leads to a separation in the coming weeks’ is gaining prominence.
At the same time, sirens from England are getting ‘stronger and stronger’. After Arsenal and Newcastle United, Liverpool have ‘come forward’ to sign Asensio.
The Reds have already parted ways with Sadio Mané and the Spaniard could replace him, if Jürgen Klopp’s side can seal the deal.
Milan have been keeping tabs on the attacker for months and could offer something that the Merseyside club cannot guarantee; to have regular game time at the San Siro.
The Rossoneri, however, will have to take into consideration the cost of the operation as their priorities, for now, are to sign Lille’s Sven Botman and Renato Sanches.
Radio Marca interviewed Asensio’s former agent, Horacio Gaggioli, and asked whether the former Mallorca man will leave Real Madrid this summer.
“I saw Asensio with the national team the other day and he was spectacular. The injury has not made him lose his talent and he has found that path to regain intensity,” Gaggioli said.
“Marco is a Real Madrid player and if he is given that minimum opportunity he needs, he will be able to make a difference at Real Madrid.”
