Mundo Deportivo are having a positive day on Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona. After the Catalan press spent a couple of weeks looking for alternatives for the Brazilian, and talking those up, Barcelona’s chances of a deal with Liverpool looked slim.
Now it’s time to talk the possibility up again, and Mundo Deportivo have begun to do that. In a Monday article it’s explained that Barcelona want to show Lionel Messi they’ll build him a brilliant team, given he’s now signed his latest contract.
Coutinho is part of that plan, and as far as Liverpool go, Mundo Deportivo believe they need to wake up and realise how good this opportunity is for them.
Yup, the Catalan newspaper say that whilst Liverpool may want Coutinho to help them for the rest of the season, they ‘know’ they ‘have a golden opportunity’ with Barcelona’s big offer (no amount given) and are aware that a club will ‘hardly offer it again’.
It’s a new tact, putting all the pressure on Liverpool and making it seem like they’ll lose out in the event Coutinho doesn’t leave in the January window.
This latest Catalan slant of Barcelona somehow doing Liverpool a favour by signing Coutinho in January is at least new, we’ll give Mundo Deportivo that.
