After so many claims saying Liverpool’s Rafael Camacho would be arriving in Lisbon to sign for Sporting this week, it seems the deal has fallen apart.

Most of the Portuguese newspapers have a story about the situation today, with A Bola being the one with most details.

They claim that after speaking to the player on Tuesday, Jurgen Klopp has decided to keep him in the squad and cancel the deal with Sporting.

The German manager reportedly believes that Camacho needs to improve his defensive game, and will keep the player close to give him the needed instructions.

Klopp is an ‘admirer’ of Camacho’s offensive qualities, but when testing him in the right-back position against Wolverhampton on Monday, he’s realised the player will require some close monitoring.

Sporting have already been told about Liverpool’s decision, and are said to be ‘desolate’ as they were confident the player would be signed.

Bit dramatic.
