Liverpool youngster Shamal George looks set to join Swiss side St.Gallen on loan until the end of the season.

St.Gallen have something of a problem in their goalkeeping department at the minute, with number two and three goalkeepers, Jonathan Klinsmann and Nico Strübi, both out injured.

First choice goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic has also been linked with a move to Middlesbrough, who need a new number stopper to replace the departing Darren Randolph.

That has led them to try and find a new goalkeeper this week, and they appear to have settled on Liverpool U23 George.

According to Tagblatt, the 17-year-old flew out to join the Swiss side at their training base on Thursday where he will stay with them until the end of their camp.

He underwent training with them on Friday and is set to play in a friendly game against Bayer Leverkusen ahead of a potential move to the club.

At the moment the club are providing no information about a potential move, and the newspaper believe it is ‘likely’, given the goalkeeping situation at the club.

Club chief Alain Sutter has also hinted heavily that they will seal a move, stating “if we weren’t really interested in Shamal, we wouldn’t have brought him here to La Manga.”
