Liverpool are interested in a move for Torino defender Gleison Bremer but could face competition from Everton for his signature.
That’s according to Corriere Granata journalist Matteo Pedrosi, who covers the interest from Merseyside in the Brazilian today.
As you’ll be aware by now, Liverpool are firmly on the hunt for a new centre back in the January transfer window after losing Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-term injuries earlier this year.
Their need for extra cover has only been compounded by Joel Matip’s injury issues, which has seen the Reds playing with two midfielders in central defence on several occasions across December.
They’ve been linked with players all around Europe, with rumours suggesting they are watching a growing list of potential recruits.
Torino defender Bremer can now be added to the list according to Pedrosi, who says ‘requests’ for the Brazilian defender have been sent ‘through intermediaries’.
These requests have come from England and ‘above all, with some insistence’ Liverpool, who remain ‘desperate’ to find a replacement for Van Dijk.
Everton have also ‘knocked on the door’ for the 23-year-old, who they were linked to back in September as well.
There’s no mention of a bid from them or Liverpool as yet, although it is stated that the latter ‘press the most’ for his signature and Torino already have a replacement in mind should a ‘concrete and indispensable’ offer be made.
