Sadio Mané is having a good time at Liverpool, and that’s a fact.
Scoring three goals and picking up three assists in seven games for the Reds so far, the Senegalese forward is thoroughly enjoying life under Jürgen Klopp, and has continued the form he managed to muster at Southampton that led to his £35m transfer to Anfield.
A key part of the German manager’s squad at Liverpool, the player is also incredibly important for his country, called up on a regular basis, and finding the back of the net as consistently as he does for his clubs (10 goals in 33 caps).
With all of this in mind, it really isn’t surprising to see his name among the 30 nominated for the African Player of the Year award on the Confederation of African Football’s website.
Liverpool’s Mané will be going up against the likes of Riyad Mahrez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and, for some reason John Obi Mikel, to try and pick up the prestigious award, which went to the Borussia Dortmund striker last season, who saw off the likes of Yaya Touré and André Ayew.
