Wednesday night’s result against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup aside, Liverpool’s start to the season has been rather flawless.
Winning every game in the league, as well as beating Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Jürgen Klopp’s men appear to be enjoying themselves and building on the last campaign.
While Mohamed Salah hasn’t quite recaptured his magical feet just yet, one man who has taken over for now is Sadio Mané.
The Senegalese star has scored four goals in six league games, and while he has yet to assist one of his teammates, he still has a hand in the move for most of their goals.
He said: “He’s a boy who has the engine of a midfielder, the tenacity of a defender, the creativity of a number 10 and on top of that he scores goals. The guy’s never tired, never injured, and he never says anything bad. He’s a manager’s dream.”
Since joining Liverpool from Southampton in 2016, the 26-year-old has scored 37 goals and picked up 17 assists in 81 games in all competitions, which is an improvement on the 25 goals and 14 assists in 75 games for the Saints.
Then again, he is playing in a better team.
