Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri has spoken to the Turkish press after Liverpool’s Super Cup against Chelsea.
The Swiss player had been linked with a transfer away from the Anfield side over the course of the summer, with a move to Monaco touted earlier this month.
Shaqiri has also been sent to Turkey by various members of the press, with Galatasaray a recurring name over the past few years, dating back to his time at Stoke before he moved to Anfield.
Asked about this reported interest, and relayed by Haberturk, Shaqiri said he had yet to see anything concrete from the Turkish club land on his desk: “No, never. Of course Turkey is a great country to live in, they have a good league and good teams but I haven’t received any offers from Galatasaray.
“I am very happy in the Premier League, I am a part of a great team and hope it will continue like that. But of course, you never know what will happen next in football”.
He also spoke about the game and potential Istanbul visit for Liverpool for this year’s Champions League final: “Both teams played very well but at the end, we’ve won it. We are very happy. This year’s Champions League final will also be at Istanbul. I hope we will be able to come here once again for the final.”
The former Basel academy product still has four years left on his current contract with the Premier League side.
