The closer we get to the summer, the more we are going to hear about Taiwo Awoniyi’s Liverpool future.

The Nigeria U23 international is once again showing his ability on loan at Royal Excel Mouscron since his return there in January, averaging just under a goal a game, and that’s attracted interest from various clubs.

According to Sport/Foot, the Liverpool loanee, who travelled to make use of Hertha Berlin’s medical facilities to help heal a recurring knee niggle, is being targeted by a number of Bundesliga clubs.

Using his time in Germany to hold casual talks with ‘various influential people’ in the league, the player ‘would like to know as soon as possible’ what the Reds’ intentions for him are.

Their ideal scenario would be to loan him again, with clubs like Schalke 04 showing a ‘certain interest’.

As for a permanent deal in the summer, Liverpool, in order to consider such a transfer, would require around €15m.

If there’s one certainty in all this, according to Sport/Foot, it’s that these are the final weeks of Awoniyi in a Mouscron shirt, who can’t afford him full-time and will have too much competition for another loan.
