Ajax have been warned that they still face a difficult task against Liverpool, despite the Reds’ indifferent start to the season.

That’s according to Dirk Kuyt, who insists that the Dutch side will struggle to match Liverpool’s intensity.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are going through something of a rough patch, having won just two of their opening six games of the Premier League season.

A 0-0 draw against Everton last weekend saw them facing criticism and was compounded by a hammering from Napoli in the Champions League in midweek.

The Italian side ran out 4-1 winners in that game, completely dominating Liverpool from start to finish in a comprehensive performance.

Such was their dominance that it led Klopp to suggest after the game that his side needed to reinvent themselves moving forwards.

Kuyt cannot see that happening, though, and believes their next opponent, Ajax, will have to be wary of a backlash at Anfield.

“If Jürgen and I stick to our vision, the change will come,” he told De Telegraaf, relayed by Sport Niuews.

“Your vision is the most important thing to hold on to, I’ve learned from all the top trainers I’ve spoken to. In the summer Ten Hag told me this at the airport in Ibiza, where we met during the holiday.

“If the club is in a bad way, like this period, the crowd often adds two or three more spades to the mix and creates an atmosphere of invincibility.

“I would be very surprised if Ajax can play under that intense pressure against Liverpool.

“Only in the half-time, they (Ajax) can do something right. At Anfield, I have seen even the biggest teams with the most experienced top players lose the plot because of the interaction between the crowd and the team.”
