Brazilian outlet TNT Sports is featuring on Friday an interview with Everton star Richarlison.
Since they also broadcast Liverpool’s clash against Inter Milan in the Champions League, there’s a very good reason for them to release a little part of their chat with the Toffees’ forward, ahead of the show.
TNT Sports asked Richarlison if there’s any club he’d prefer not to win the European tournament this season. The Brazilian went straight for their Merseyside rivals, claiming he’d like to avoid potential jokes at the end of the season.
“From here in England, I would prefer Liverpool not to win. Because, like it or not, it’s like you said, it’s a rival and we don’t want the guys to win,” Richarlison told TNT Sports.
“Because there’s banter, total banter, Liverpool fans go on social media to make fun of us. So, if I had to choose, I would choose Liverpool not to win.”
First playing for Watford and then Everton since his arrival in England, Richarlison never had the chance to play the Champions League in his career.
In case you wonder why the subject was brought up in first place, that’s because TNT Sports have the broadcasting rights for the European tournament and not the Premier League.
Even though the 24-year-old is frequently joking about rivalries, he never takes it too serious. A proof of it is that after being slammed by Argentine fans following his posts on social media, he ended up making friendship with the Argentine media and is now frequently interviewed by them.
So Liverpool shouldn’t take it to heart too much.
