Fotomac report a club from China has entered the race to sign Domagoj Vida from Besiktas, providing competition to Liverpool.
The Croatia international has been linked with a move to Anfield in this transfer window, and this week there were claims in Turkey the Premier League club have an agreement in principle with the central defender.
According to Fotomac, a club from China have made a bid of €25m to Besiktas for Vida, and they’ve also offered him a salary of €8m a season. Again Fotomac report Liverpool’s interest in the 29 year old.
However, these claims don’t stack up as the Chinese transfer window has now shut, and it seems an attempt to put pressure on Liverpool to increase their offer for Vida. Alternatively, it calls into question just what is going on with the Vida reporting in Turkey.
Fotomac reports Besiktas will sell Vida this summer, but his destination isn’t known yet.
Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has also approved his departure and the Turkish club are already starting to sign reinforcements, after completing the transfer of Chile international Enzo Roco on a free.
Earlier this week we covered reports that Vida had accepted a contract in principle from Liverpool after the Merseyside club offered a two year contract, with the option of a third season.
Liverpool are now reportedly looking to sit down with Besiktas to discuss the Croatian coming to Anfield.
