Liverpool have ‘expressed interest’ in RB Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi, with the list of suitors for the youngster now including Paris Saint Germain.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who say the French giants are considering signing the German as a replacement for Kylian Mbappé next summer.
They explain that Adeyemi is ‘one of the most hunted players’ in Europe after his fine displays for Salzburg over the last few months.
That is something that readers at Sport Witness will be more than aware of, with us covering numerous reports about Liverpool’s growing interest in the German forward.
Sky pick up on that and add PSG to the mix, with it looking likely they will need a replacement for Mbappé in the summer as his contract is expiring, and he’s made it clear he wants to leave.
One of the big questions has been whether Adeyemi will move in January or the summer, despite his club making it clear they expect him to finish the season with them.
Reports have indicated that the likes of Liverpool want a deal to happen sooner rather than the later and according to Sky’s expert Max Bielefeld there is now a chance that “interested clubs could agree on a summer switch with him in the winter and possibly loan him back for another six months.”
That would suit everyone involved, particularly Adeyemi, who could continue getting first-team football and then make the big move in the summer with the experience under his belt.
At the moment, he is yet to decide where to go, and it is ‘completely open’ for now, although he does plan to hold talks with Borussia Dortmund after meeting Bayern Munich.
An important factor is how much game time he will get, which could be an issue for Liverpool given Jurgen Klopp very rarely rotates beyond his front four of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and now Diogo Jota.
Adeyemi could change that, of course, and it seems Liverpool are very much in the race, with no decision made on his future beyond the fact he will be leaving Salzburg at some point.
