Spanish newspaper Marca have a big feature on Marco Asensio in their Sunday edition. The young footballer not only gets Marca’s front page, but also the two after that, and the big story is that Real Madrid are so impressed with the youngster that they see him as not only the future, but also the present.

Rather than sending the player out on loan again, Madrid may count on him for next season, feeling he’s a standout youngster in their squad. Not only that, Marca celebrate what they claim is an Asensio contract renewal, something which will keep him at the club until June 2022.

The 20 year old needs to impress manager Zinedine Zidane in pre-season training, and if he does so then he could be staying put. There’s no shortage of interest in the player, with Marca claiming Sevilla, Valencia, Villarreal, Espanyol, Liverpool and Everton are among the clubs who have asked about a potential move, presumably a loan arrangement.

Asensio is left footed, and can play as an attacking midfielder or on either wing. He’s already a full Spanish international, making his debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina in May.
