Earlier in January, we covered claims from Le10 Sport that Liverpool had entered the race for Lille’s Boubakary Soumaré.
Newcastle United were also interested in the midfielder and they even submitted an offer to acquire his services. However, he turned them down because the 21-year-old wanted to join a club which has a more ambitious project.
Le10 Sport explains Reds’ interest Soumaré is ‘not new’ and their desire for a transfer is ‘still alive’.
The Merseyside club ‘maintain contact’ with the France U21’s entourage so that they can stay on top of a potential operation.
The player is also a transfer target for Real Madrid.
The Lille star has potential to become a high-quality player, but questions are asked if he can get regular playing time, if he ends up joining moving to Anfield.
Even though Soumaré is on Real Madrid’s radar, Le10 adds Liverpool ‘do not give up’ chasing him.
Meanwhile, the same report also states Liverpool are interested in Lille’s Victor Osimhen. The English side have contacted the forward’s entourage to ‘discuss his situation and prepare the ground for a possible offer’.
It’s claimed the player is included in the Reds’ attacking targets and Lille could receive a ‘golden proposal’ in the coming weeks.
Soumaré and Osimhen’s performances for Lille have clearly pleased Klopp and time will tell if the star duo, or either of them, end up at Liverpool in the summer.
