Liverpool are interested in signing Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira, according to claims from the Portuguese media.
TVI journalist Bruno Andrade is the one reporting the 21-year-old is on the list of players who are ‘well referenced’ by the Reds this summer.
It’s said the interest from Liverpool has now grown following the midfielder’s performances in the U21 Euros, where he was named the tournament’s best player just a couple of days ago.
That’s all the information Andrade brings for now, adding that Porto are working to renew the player’s contract, which expires next year.
Vieira’s situation at Porto has indeed been discussed by the Portuguese media this week, with newspapers claiming the player has been showing his openness towards negotiating a new deal with the Dragons.
The midfielder still isn’t a regular starter for the club, and had a few minutes in each of the 33 appearances he’s made for them this season.
Now the fact his contract expires in one year clearly makes things a little more tense for this summer window, and presents the possibility of a bargain for Liverpool. He’s currently protected by a release clause of €30m, although Transfermarkt only value him at €9m for now.
