False alarm. Emre Can is not for sale and Juventus probably aren’t going to bid for him.

If Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport is to be believed, then yesterday’s hope the Liverpool midfielder could end up in Turin has all but disappeared.

Still claiming the Reds would want at least €30m for the Germany international, the Italian newspaper also make it clear the Premier League side aren’t interested in weakening their side, especially so close to the start of the new season.

With their 2017/18 campaign kicking off on Saturday, Jürgen Klopp’s side are trying their hardest to quash any potential departures, as exemplified by their statement on Friday morning clarifying their stance on the Coutinho situation.

While no such public announcement has been made for Emre Can, Gazzetta say they’ve told Juventus that much in private.

So, we’re back to square one.

Juventus really want Emre Can. Liverpool don’t want to sell Emre Can. Emre Can still hasn’t signed a new contract with Liverpool.

Just three weeks left of this, everyone. Three weeks.
