On Thursday we covered a sensible Philippe Coutinho article from the Catalan media, pointing out they do exist. Catalan journalist Miguel Rico had put something together for Mundo Deportivo which explained Barcelona’s approach had been all wrong and a more respectful plan was needed.
Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo appears to have not read its own column and goes completely Coutinho crazy again.
The Catalan newspaper says that over the next few days there’ll be a first meeting with Liverpool over a January transfer for Coutinho, Barcelona will commence talks to sign him. It’s stated that Barcelona not only want to sign the Brazilian, but they feel they owe it to him.
Following Coutinho’s efforts in the summer to force an exit from Liverpool, it’s felt there’s a no-man-left-behind moral duty to go back and get him.
Mundo Deportivo somewhat argue with themselves over price, believing €80m plus €30m in bonuses is a good offer, and but also saying more will probably be needed.
It’s pointed out that Coutinho being cup-tied for the Champions League puts downward pressure on his price, but that seems utter self obsessed nonsense – he can play for Liverpool in the same competition, Liverpool own him, Barcelona’s problems with it are their issue and not a reason for discount.
Wanting to get things right this time, Barcelona have drafted an agent in, according to the claims, and want Kia Joorabchian to get it all sorted out for them and present Coutinho on a plate.
That may not fit in with the newspaper’s own advice of Thursday.
