Earlier today, we covered a story from Portugal that made it clear Liverpool were going all out for Darwin Nuñez.

Record had splashed on their front page that the Reds were offering €100m for the Uruguayan striker, who was also very keen to move to Anfield, where he would work under Jürgen Klopp.

Well, it appears to all be moving very quickly, as Italian journalist Gianuigi Longari took to Twitter to reveal that Liverpool are now ‘close to reaching an agreement with Benfica’ for the transfer of Nuñez.

In fact, the second half of the process is already done, as the forward already has an ‘agreement on personal terms’ regarding his contract with the Reds.

Klopp had a chance to watch the player first-hand when the two sides met in the most recent Champions League campaign, in a two-legged clash that saw Nuñez find the back of the net in both games.

On top of that, the Liverpool target scored 26 goals in 28 appearances for Benfica in the league, as well as picking up four assists.
