Spanish side Cádiz may make a move for Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella this summer once he leaves Anfield.
The 23-year-old midfielder looks likely to bring an end to his seven-year spell at Liverpool this summer after rejecting a new five-year deal at the club last month.
At this moment in time, his future is up in the air, although he is unlikely to be short of options given his age and history with Liverpool.
One option that has been touted is Ligue 1 side Nantes, who have been linked with making a move, but it seems there may also be a chance to return to Spain.
El Desmarque report that Cádiz have identified Chirivella as a target this summer, should they secure promotion to La Liga.
The Spanish side are currently top of the LaLiga2, one point ahead of Real Zaragoza in second place, and are planning for the future should they secure promotion.
They’ve drawn up a list of potential signings with that in mind and Chirivella is among them, with him having stood out because of his ‘dynamism and defensive awareness’.
It’s explained that Cádiz are keen to target ‘young players with a future’ and at 23-years-old, Chirivella fits into that bracket perfectly.
El Desmarque don’t mention whether there have been any contacts with the player as yet, although presumably there haven’t been with the club focusing on promotion at this point.
They do, however, comment on the reported interest from Nantes and say that ‘is not official’, which is why Chirivella’s name has ‘reached the offices of the yellow club.’
Much is likely to depend on their promotion push, though. Should they move up a division, then there is every chance Chirivella will fancy the move and a return to Spain seven years after swapping Valencia for Liverpool.
