As Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez continues to gain attention from European sides, Chelsea and Liverpool are today named in the race for him.
That’s said in a story from Catalan outlet Sport, who today features a piece telling how Barcelona had the chance of signing the player for little from River Plate.
With the La Liga giants hesitating about the signing, Benfica snatched him from the Argentine club for only €10m, and following his great start in Portugal, he’s already worth a lot more.
Sport writes that Chelsea and Liverpool are the two clubs in England who have him in their sights, while Barcelona still likes him.
And Benfica, who know they can make a quick profit with his sale, are said to be ‘already rubbing their hands’ about the transfer, as he’s now worth over €50m.
Liverpool’s interest in the player had already been reported on by the Portuguese media, although Chelsea’s interest in all this seems to be new.
Either way, any club that goes for him will have to pay big, especially considering how good Benfica are when selling their players, and they have a lot of good performances to fall back on to back up their demands.
