Trent Alexander-Arnold has been the first choice right-back at Liverpool for a long time.
The 25-year-old England international has less than a year left on his deal and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.
It’s unclear whether the defender will sign a new deal at Liverpool, but he’s still a regular under Arne Slot this season. Recent claims from the UK have stated the Reds are looking at Sevilla’s Juanlu Sánchez as a potential replacement.
This has reached the Spanish press, especially Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, who provide the La Liga side’s stance on the 21-year-old.
The report states the Spain U21 international has a €25m release clause in his deal that lasts until 2026. If there’s an offer of around €20m, the Andalusian club are willing to ‘study it very carefully’.
This would certainly come as an encouragement for the Premier League side, if they are genuinely keen to sign Sánchez.
Liverpool have done business with the Spanish club when they signed Luis Alberto and Alberto Moreno in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
It’s to be noted Sánchez’s preferred position is on the right side of defence, but Sevilla manager García Pimienta has used him in midfield this season.
