Christopher Nkunku has this week been named the best player in the Bundesliga this season.
Considering it’s a league which also has Robert Lewandowski in it, the honour is a big one for the 24-year-old. So far this season, he’s scored 34 goals and added 20 assists for RB Leipzig, an absolutely brilliant return which has attracted interest from elsewhere.
RB Leipzig have insisted they don’t want to sell this summer, so unless there’s any change in that stance he’ll be spending another season in Germany. After that, the Premier League could be calling, and L’Equipe believe he may have dropped a Liverpool hint.
Interviewed after picking up his award, Nkunku was asked which team he plays as on FIFA, to which he simply said: “Liverpool.”
L’Equipe then add: ‘A clue, perhaps, about the club he would like to join later.’
Liverpool have, of course, been linked with the attacker previously, just the same as nearly every major Premier League club.
Should he keep up his form next season then the transfer rumours are only likely to grow, and it will be useful for Jurgen Klopp if Nkunku genuinely has a soft spot for Liverpool, as L’Equipe suggest.
