Brentford midfield Vitaly Janelt has revealed what Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said to him following the clash between the two sides.

Liverpool and Brentford met in a thrilling 3-3 draw last month, with the Bees earning plenty of credit for their performance in the game.

The Reds had been expected to pick up an easy three points against the newly-promoted side, but that did not prove to be the case.

Instead, they found themselves having to battle for a point, with Brentford taking the lead in the game and then battling back from a goal down on two separate occasions.

It was a performance that many raved about, including Liverpool manager Klopp, who was full of praise for the way Brentford had played against his side.

It seems the Liverpool boss was surprised with what he came up against, though, something he admitted to Brentford’s Janelt in a chat after the game.

“Yes, we just chatted for a short while,” he told BILD.

“He asked me where I came from and who the government was, thinking that I came from North Rhine-Westphalia.

“But we talked again for 23 minutes. He said we were doing well as a team. He didn’t think we’d perform like that against Liverpool.”
