Akşam claim Liverpool attacker Lazar Markovic wants to return to his former club Fenerbahce in the new year.
Markovic spent 2015/16 season with Fenerbahce and was likened to club legend Ridvan Dilmen due to his displays. However, due to injuries the Liverpool player only managed to make 21 appearances for the Turkish giants.
The 23 year old spent last season on loan at Sporting and Hull City, and in this campaign he’s not been in the plans of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
Akşam say Markovic’s agent has told Fenerbahce his client is eager for a return to Istanbul, but the Yellow Canaries have insisted they can’t afford his transfer fee.
However, Aksam claim the Fenerbahce board will speak with Aykut Kocaman about Markovic, and if the Turkish side’s manager gives the green light then they will begin official talks with Liverpool.
It’s unlikely this would be a permanent move and Fenerbahce would be looking to loan the Liverpool outcast until the end of the season.
