Nabil Fekir has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool. Last Friday, the forward revealed he will have a discussion with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas and then take a decision on his future.
Several reports indicated the Merseyside club are close to signing the 24-year-old. However, the France international has revealed he is not close to joining Jurgen Klopp’s side and even admitted he knows of the interest of several clubs during an interview with Telefoot.
“I’m not close to Liverpool. It’s true that there are discussions with several clubs. As I said, I will take the time to think,” Fekir explained.
Today’s edition of French newspaper L’Equipe claims Liverpool are interested in the player, while Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have also studied Fekir’s profile. The same outlet claims the leaders of the Anfield club and Lyon have already made an appointment for ‘early this week’ to open talks over a possible transfer of the attacker to Merseyside.
Lyon have slapped a €60m asking price for their star player, who scored 23 goals and registered nine assists in all competitions. Fekir has two years left on his contract and he will only start negotiating with his future employers, if they (Liverpool or some other club) manage to agree a fee with the Ligue 1 side.
